Many parents have already understood it from their own experience – setting up and designing a modern, practical and at the same time comfortable children’s room is no easy task. This, in most cases, proves to be a challenge in which they must use their creative mind. Yes, a nursery must indeed have character and charm, but at the same time meet the wishes and preferences of all ages.
In this case, as a parent, you must try to find the perfect balance between your design ideas and practical needs and the needs and desires of your child. Much depends on the space available, the amount of money you can spend on it and, of course, the specific choices and tastes of the children at home. But it is quite obvious that today more and more parents are choosing children’s rooms that are modern in style and easily grow together with their little ones. This means they create a neutral backdrop in the nursery, so you can easily change the furniture there or replace it with new ones. And so that the children’s kingdom does not look monochrome or boring, you definitely need some splashes of color or funny decoration, even a fabulous accent wall. Such design elements break the monotony in the room and drive out any boredom.
We want to give you some practical tips today, like you a modern one nursery can shape. These will certainly be helpful to you when you start your nursery project.
The furniture in the nursery – between romance and practicality
There are such parents who want to design a romantic nursery. They set up the children’s kingdom so that every tiny detail inspires and develops the imagination of the little ones. Other parenting couples approach the matter in a more practical way, preferring simple, practical pieces of furniture that in most cases grow together with their offspring. We do not want to decide which approach is the better, because everything in designing a nursery ultimately depends on your own preferences and preferences, but also on the amount of money you can spend on it. We show you some pictures that vary between romance and practicism.
When designing the nursery, you must also plan the location and size of the furniture in advance. It is best to use even the smallest corner to create a storage space, for example, and consider the light-shadow play in the children’s room. The little ones like to play in a sunny, warm and cozy room. But this is not just about playing and raving. The children will be there to tinker, romp, cuddle and learn, of course, sleep! All these children’s activities must be taken into account in the interior design. A corner for painting or a craft table should not be missing in the modern nursery.
The large and small pieces of furniture must rather be made of high quality materials and have a child-safe design, i. Any risk of injury should be avoided in the nursery. Sharp edges are not wanted, better said, not allowed in the nursery! Because the safety of the little ones is our highest preference.
The lighting in the nursery is just as important. The natural lighting has to be used fully. Make maximum use of daylight and create a lot of cosiness there. For the evening, you need colorful lampshades and night lights that drive out of the nursery when falling asleep evil spirits and let the little ones fall into a sweet sleep.
Colors in the kingdom of the little ones
Subtle color design with pops of color or a striking accent wall is nothing new in the nursery. Playful patterns and sophisticated design elements are always welcome in this room and they are used to make the room not only child friendly, but also stylish, fashionable and beautiful. From soft blue to romantic pink, all the colors in the nursery are announced, which contribute to the comfort and modernity there.
Too many toys? What should you do with it?
The children’s room – modern or traditionally furnished, is undoubtedly the plaything of the little ones. But that certainly does not mean that there should often be chaos there. Toys are scattered here and there on the floor of the room, crayons and balls are there to see! So that you are not confronted with such a situation, you must also include enough storage space for the children’s things during the planning of the nursery design. Think of a big enough cupboard for their clothes, shelves and baskets for the toys. If you have these “helpers” in the nursery, you will easily avoid the clutter. Also keep up to date with the new EU Children’s Toys Directive, so there will be no alarm or nasty surprises in the nursery.
