Plauen In order to be able to put into practice the theoretically acquired knowledge, the textile design students of the Faculty of Applied Arts in Schneeberg the possibility to design panel curtains with their own motifs. This project was developed as part of the final thesis of the 6th semester. Of course, the students received support in this regard. The professors of the Schneeberg faculty of the Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau assisted you in questions of theory. There was practice at the Sensuna GmbH, a manufacturer for blinds, panel curtains and pleats, and by the company RolloExpress, the Onlineshop for sunscreen products ,
In March, the students were able to visit the companies RolloExpress and Sensuna GmbH. They were accompanied by their professors Annerose Schulze and Jörg Steinbach. They could get a concrete impression of the production processes and beyond. Michael Knauth, Managing Director of RolloExpress, guided the students through the production halls. It explained the basic operations and answered many questions. Collaboration between universities and companies is particularly important to Knauth. He has been accompanying such projects for years, giving young people an insight into the world of work.
The students have now finished their 6th semester. To conclude, they presented their projects under the theme “A blind rarely comes alone”. Michael Knauth from RolloExpress was therefore able to assess the first results at the beginning of August. During a visit to Schneeberg, the special ideas and the flair of the students for the fabrics and materials impressed him. Both companies are in the process of implementing these ideas and adding them to the product range. For RolloExpress the new sensuna panel curtains made to measure would be a sensible addition to the Standard sliding curtains and blinds from LYSEL , The motives and designs that will beautify the windows of the customers in the future, the students may decide along. The focus of the university’s project is not only artistic implementation but also technical and market-strategic issues.
